Senate President Godswill Akpabio conducted a series of voice votes for the nominations, with three nominees still undergoing security clearance. These three nominees are Nasir El-Rufai (former Governor of Kaduna State), Stella Okotete (Delta State), and Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State).

The confirmation process came more than a week after President Tinubu submitted a list of 28 candidates to the Senate for confirmation on July 27.

During the screening process, which spanned several days, the Senate assessed the credentials and suitability of the nominees. Notable figures who went through the process include ex-governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), as well as various professionals and politicians from different states.

Tinubu later submitted a supplementary list of 19 nominees to the Senate, making the total number of nominees 48. However, President Tinubu withdrew the nomination of Maryam Shetty from Kano State and replaced her with Festus Keyamo and Mariya Mahmoud.
