Asiwaju Is The Reason Why I Can Call Lagos My Home- Jay Jay Okocha’s Endorsement Causes Heartaches

Earlier this year, when the former Lagos State governor and APC presidential contender celebrated his 70th birthday, some ex-Nigeria international players paid a visit to the Jagaban to express their gratitude for his contributions to sports development in Nigeria.

Football legends present on that day included, among others, Peter Rufai, Ike Shorunmu and Dosu Joseph, Austin Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West and Uche Okechukwu, Obafemi Martins, Tijani Babangida, Victor Ikpeba, and Mutiu Adepoju, ALL MADE MEN.

Recall that superstar and King of Soccer, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, who was so good that he was named twice, released a remark on Tinubu’s developmental accomplishments, saying, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Is The Reason Why I Can Call Lagos My Home.”

This phrase has returned in recent days and is currently trending. Okocha’s appreciation of Tinubu’s great performance has no doubt ruffled feathers in some quarters, but it is to be expected.

Prior to Tinubu taking office as Lagos State’s governor in 1999, the state was plagued with squalor, anarchy, street gangsterism, dead institutions, a high crime rate, limited highways, etc.

With Tinubu’s election, the state began to take a holistic approach to all of its problems, and a methodical solution was launched.
Today, Lagos shines out in terms of income generation, good train systems, decent institutions, nice hospitals, and so on.
The creator of the 25-year master plan, which has been consistently followed to date, deserves credit.

Every Tinubu successor has demonstrated that a foundation was laid; nevertheless, while Lagos, a single state out of 36, was growing, Nigerians as a whole were complaining that the country was reverting back.

States like Cross Rivers, which had some good innovations launched by Donald Duke and began out well and appearing more promising than Lagos, are no longer even known for anything hopeful.

So Okocha has expressed gratitude that, instead of going backwards like most other states, Lagos has thrived and even created new cities.

Without a question, one of Lagos’s successes is the assurance given to investors, both foreign and local, that Lagos is a safe place to invest; this could only be achieved via sound leadership that has created the enabling environment and security to grow.

How many investors do we have today who are from other states investing in Anambra State, despite the fact that the state is known for having the most billionaires in Nigeria?

Who is investing in Enugu? If you can’t be Lagos, at least can you be little Lagos? Okay, pick one local government, like Ikeja or Lagos Island to be like.

Do you know that Delta State used to be home to all the major oil companies, including Chevron, Shell, and others? All of dem don JAPA go Eko? Lagos no get oil O.

These are the concerns we should be thinking about. Asiwaju Tinubu made Lagos welcoming to all tribes and nations, and his cabinet was a rainbow coalition of all tribes. Igbos now serve in the Lagos House of Assembly; was this feasible before Tinubu?

Feeling gratitude, and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it. See, Okocha understands what it is to be grateful, and he is perfectly in order.

Today, famous people who visit Anambra are murdered like hens. Peter Obi, who had only invested in a brewery in his state, was unable to establish his network of stores in Anambra or elsewhere in the South East.

No surprise former Labour Party National Chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu said all Peter Obi did in Anambra State as a Governor was invest in a brewery so his people could promote kidnapping and theft.

Peter had the opportunity to transform Anambra into a mini-London or, in the worst-case scenario, a mini-Lagos.

The same Peter Obi would upload photos of himself going about Lagos without escorts, yet we see pictures of him being guarded by unidentified gunmen and all security networks during his visit to Anambra state after years of living in Lagos.

Aside from Atiku’s university, American University Yola, what other investments has the former vice- president attracted to Adamawa, a state that is blacklisted for terrorism?

So let them say: When things go their way, they hail; when things go against them, they lament. This is similar to how Obidents have been spotted applauding Sheikh Gumi, a terrorist negotiator, just because Peter Obi visited him.

The poorest state in Nigeria today is controlled by PDP governors, yet you are outraged that Jay Jay Okocha, who is from the South East, is praising Tinubu’s visionary legacies.

Well, like Tinubu said just vote for me and they would stop complaining, “as e dey pain them e dey sweet us.”
