Train Services on Warri–Itakpe Corridor Set to Resume Soon — NRC
The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), has announced that train services on the Warri–Itakpe corridor will soon resume following a temporary suspension to facilitate urgent repairs.
According to iReporter Online, the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed in a statement on Friday that the suspension was necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of train operations along the route.
“Operations were temporarily suspended on the train service to enable us to carry out urgent and critical track repairs aimed at guaranteeing the safety, reliability, and comfort of passengers,” he stated.
Unyimadu noted that the repair work had progressed significantly and assured the public that normal rail services would resume “in the shortest possible time.”
He extended appreciation to passengers for their patience during the service disruption, adding that NRC remains fully committed to delivering safe, efficient, and dependable rail transport across Nigeria.
According to iReporter Online, the affected section is a crucial part of Nigeria’s growing railway infrastructure and plays a key role in connecting parts of the South-South and North-Central regions.
Unyimadu also stated that the corporation would officially announce the date for the resumption of services once the repairs are fully completed.
According to iReporter Online, the Warri–Itakpe rail line has witnessed growing patronage due to its convenience and affordability, and expectations are high for the swift return of operations.
