Bandits Demand N40 Trillion, 11 Hilux Vans, And 150 Motorcycles For The Release Of 16 Abducted Kaduna Residents
In a staggering demand that underscores the brazenness of criminal elements, bandits have issued a ransom request totaling N40 trillion, along with 11 Hilux vans and 150 brand-new motorcycles, in exchange for the release of 16 residents abducted from the Gonin Gora area of Kaduna…….READ ALSO Bandits Invade Plateau Market, Kill 7
The ordeal began with a series of attacks in the community, with the initial invasion resulting in the death of two individuals and the abduction of three others. Just days later, the bandits returned, this time seizing an additional 13 people from the same area, sparking outrage and prompting protests along the Kaduna – Abuja highway.
John Yusuf, a community leader, revealed the extortionate demands made by the bandits. “The bandits have contacted us, demanding N40 trillion, 11 Hilux vans, and 150 motorcycles for the release of the 16 captives,” he disclosed, expressing incredulity at the exorbitant sum requested.
Yusuf highlighted the vulnerability of the community due to its proximity to vast stretches of bush, which provide cover for criminal activities. He pleaded for government intervention, calling for the establishment of a military base to stem the tide of attacks.
Despite acknowledging the efforts of the Nigerian Army, Yusuf lamented the challenges posed by the bandits’ swift movements. “Before they reach the community, the bandits would have done what they wanted and left,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to curb the menace.
The community leaders issued a stark warning, urging both federal and state authorities to take decisive action to address the escalating crisis. Failure to do so, they cautioned, could have dire consequences for the safety and security of all residents.
