The reports revealed that Minister Betta Edu had instructed the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, to transfer public funds to a private account belonging to Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, identified as a project manager in the ministry working with vulnerable groups.

Expressing his reaction, Kperogi called for the dismissal of Minister Edu by President Bola Tinubu. Edu’s directive to transfer public funds into a private account was deemed illegal by Kperogi, who argued that failure to take immediate action would compromise Tinubu’s moral standing to address corruption within Buhari’s administration.

Kperogi pointed out that Edu’s actions mirrored the pattern of corruption exhibited by her predecessor, Sadiya Umar Farouq, who is currently facing investigation by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The professor criticized the pervasive corruption during Buhari’s eight-year tenure, describing it as an era of “ungovernance.”

Highlighting the alleged mismanagement within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Kperogi emphasized the need for accountability. He cited instances of financial misappropriation, including Edu’s instruction to transfer over N500 million designated for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos to a private UBA account, a clear violation of Nigeria’s public sector financial regulations.

Concluding his statement, Kperogi emphasized the pivotal moment for Tinubu, stating that failure to address the situation promptly would undermine his credibility in tackling corruption within Buhari’s administration.
