BREAKING: Another One Against PDP? – What Appeal Court Did  To Fintiri As Adamawa Governor

Umaru Fintiri

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has rejected a petition filed by Umar Ardo, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), challenging the victory of Ahmadu Fintiri as the governor of Adamawa State.

In delivering the ruling, Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu upheld the previous decision of the Tribunal, led by Justice Theodora Uloho, which had dismissed Ardo’s petition for being incompetent and improperly filed.

The appellate court concluded that the appellants failed to substantiate their allegations of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Ogakwu stated that there was no foundation to grant the appeal.

Following Fintiri’s declaration as the winner of the poll, the SDP candidate and his party filed a petition at the State Governorship Election Tribunal, seeking the nullification of Fintiri’s re-election. Ardo argued that there was significant non-compliance with the Electoral Act, as well as corrupt practices, threats, and violence during the exercise. Despite appealing the tribunal’s judgment, the appellate court dismissed Ardo’s petition.
