During a meeting with stakeholders from the Okuama community and members of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp Management Committee in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori urged those displaced by the crisis to relocate to the IDP camp in Ewu, Delta State. He emphasized that relocating to the camp would facilitate the profiling of those affected, as well as attending to their health and social service needs.

The governor reassured the Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area that the state government is committed to rebuilding the school and health center destroyed during the crisis. He also emphasized the importance of championing peace and development in the community, urging indigenes to uphold positive values that would benefit their ancestral homes.

Governor Oborevwori expressed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding the town in partnership with other stakeholders. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Secretary General of Ewu Kingdom, Pastor Edewor Egedegbe, praised the governor’s leadership and pledged to encourage their people to relocate to the IDP camp.

Abraham Ogbodo, Chairman of the IDP Management Committee, also spoke to the media, highlighting the camp’s capacity to accommodate 1,700 persons and urging those affected to relocate for their health and social needs. He stressed the importance of the IDP camp in providing necessary support and preventing exploitation.

“The meeting with the governor is most fruitful because the governor addressed all of the issues. Most fears by the Okuama community were rested by the governor. Even though I have told them before that there was no need for those fears,” Ogbodo said.

The governor’s appeal aims to ensure that the displaced receive the necessary care and support while aiding the state in managing and resolving the crisis effectively.
