Breaking: Governor Makinde Presents-Staff And Instrument Of Office To Alaawe Of Aawe (Photos)

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State presented the staff and instrument of office to Oba Cornelius Taiwo Oladokun, the Alaawe of Aawe, on Friday. This ceremony marks a significant event, as Oba Oladokun has been on the throne since 1991.

Speaking through his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of collaboration between the monarchy and the government to enhance security within the region. He highlighted the need for traditional rulers to aid in intelligence gathering to sustain progress and development in Oyo State.

“Today’s event is a combination of activities that have begun between 1991 and today. The Alaawe mounted the throne in 1991, but the staff of office is being given this afternoon. We thank God Almighty for sparing our lives, particularly the lives of Oba Oladokun and his queens, to witness this occasion,” said Barrister Bayo Lawal.

Makinde noted the recent efforts in Afijio Local Government, mentioning that a staff of office was also presented to the Onifiditi of Fiditi a few days ago.

“Within 48 hours, the Oyo State Government has performed wonders in Afijio Local Government. We presented a staff of office to the Onifiditi within this local government. And, today, we are presenting a staff of office to Oba Oladokun here in Aawe,” he added.

He stressed the need for adequate security to foster development and urged traditional rulers to work together for the betterment of the state.

“We need adequate security for the enhancement of progress and development that we want to see here, which our government has been ensuring. Let us work together in the aspect of intelligence gathering, as the issue of security is not all about carrying guns,” Makinde advised.

He also called for cooperation among traditional rulers to facilitate development in the local government and the state.

“The second thing we need here is cooperation, especially amongst the traditional rulers. To experience development without cooperation would not be easy. So, I want our fathers, who are seated here, to cooperate with the traditional rulers so that we can progress in this local government and at the state level too,” he concluded.
