Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has officially announced that Monday, August 21, 2023, will be observed as a public holiday in honor of the annual Isese Day, a celebration cherished by adherents of Yoruba culture and tradition.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, Governor Abiodun lauded the prevailing harmony among followers of various religions within the state.

He emphasized that the decision to give special recognition to Isese Day was in line with the state’s tradition of honoring the culture of its people and fostering unity among the three major religions present in the region.

While extending his congratulations to traditional religion adherents on the occasion, he encouraged them to celebrate with propriety and avoid any actions that could disrupt the existing tranquility within the state.

Similar to Ogun State, Lagos, Oyo, and Osun states have also designated Isese Day as a public holiday for the occasion.
