Breaking: Suspend Governor Godwin-Obaseki For Alleged Party-Disservice (Details)

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend Governor Godwin Obaseki, accusing him of leading the party into political irrelevance while allegedly bolstering another party’s structure.

In a statement released on Tuesday by Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Director of Publicity for Senator Monday Okpebholo Governorship Campaign Council, the APC asserted that key stakeholders have departed from the PDP due to Obaseki’s actions.

The statement was prompted by purported calls for former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu to resign from the PDP following his public endorsement of the APC gubernatorial candidate.

“The PDP should first suspend His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki and the party’s running mate, Osarodion Ogie, for spending the state’s resources to build a structure for the Labour Party in Edo State,” Omo-Ojo stated.

He further criticized Obaseki and Ogie for allegedly funding and manipulating Labour Party’s primary elections, aiming to install their preferred candidate.

The APC spokesperson suggested that PDP focus on revitalizing its image and addressing governance issues, rather than expelling Shaibu.

“Rather than ask Shaibu to resign, PDP should suspend their outgoing governor, Obaseki, for leading them to political obscurity in Edo State,” Omo-Ojo emphasized.

He urged PDP to concentrate on communicating their future plans to Edo residents, contrasting Obaseki’s tenure unfavorably and accusing his administration of mishandling educational matters.

“The only sane thing left for PDP is to join Obaseki and Ighodalo on a pleading tour of the state and beg for forgiveness,” Omo-Ojo concluded, referencing recent controversies involving leaked examination papers in public schools.
