According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the suspect was arrested on December 25, 2024, following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation. The victim, who had been held hostage for three days, was rescued from a house in Unguwar Liman, Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

The child was promptly taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano for medical care, treated, and later discharged. He has since been reunited with his family.

Haruna confirmed that the suspect was charged in Magistrate Court No. 25, Nomansland, Kano, on January 3, 2025, and is now remanded in custody.

Kano State Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, reassured the public that the Police Command will continue to work relentlessly to safeguard the people of Kano. The Police also urged the public to continue providing useful information that could lead to the apprehension of criminals.
