During a press conference on Wednesday, George acknowledged the resolution of legal disputes and stressed the need for the country to advance. While he affirmed his agreement with the Supreme Court’s decision, he highlighted the collective goal of moving Nigeria forward.

He said, “What I owe Tinubu now is prayers forget about differences in political affiliations, this nation must move forward. As opposition we must keep them on their toes for the good of our nation. That is the responsibility that I foresee as an opposition party. If there is no strong opposition we’ll take this country on a futile journey.”
“The poverty level that we’re in has never been like this in the history of this country.
“It’s a hell of a job for the president and his team. It is wrong to give a huge amount of money to an individual every 30 days like the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs did. Has she accounted for the money she collected? When you take the government’s money, you don’t account for it. It’s not a good method of reaching out to people. There are millions of people who are living in abject poverty. There are cases of people trying to jump into the lagoon to commit suicide,” he said.
While answering questions about his thoughts on the government of national unity which has been suggested by Tinubu, he said, “It’s time for governance now. If he said he wants to have a unity government, not about myself anyway but each party will look at the cases before jumping in, and there is no individualism in a political organisation. It is not the property of any individual, collectively they will decide. If you are a real party man you cannot work outside your party. The party will look at the issues and take appropriate decisions. When Obasanjo was elected, he opened the gates for other parties to be part of his government not on individual basis.”
The PDP chieftain, while speaking on the Supreme Court judgment, said, “I disagree with the Supreme Court judgment in two areas. The definition that Justice Okoro gave on the status of Abuja. Abuja is not a state and the statement is that you must have the majority of the votes and you must have 25 percent in two third of 36 states of the federation, which means 24 states and Abuja. We may need to ask the English people to translate that statement for us.
“The other one that was very shocking to me was the issue of transmission of election results. It also means that manipulators are also acceptable. Why did Buhari spend so much buying new equipment so we can be like other civilised nations? Of course, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu was quick to tell us that there was a glitch on the D-day. Yakubu did a lot of mess to this country. He should go back and ask God for forgiveness.”
