BREAKING: What Just Transpired Between EFCC And Emefiele In Court

Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, did not appear in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday.

This was in spite of an order from Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, instructing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to either present him in court for the hearing of his motion on fundamental rights enforcement or release him unconditionally.

Last week, Justice Adeniyi directed the anti-graft agency to either release the former CBN governor without conditions or bring him to court for the hearing of a motion regarding his bail. Emefiele had been arrested by the EFCC shortly after his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in late October.

The court has now adjourned the hearing for Emefiele’s motion on notice and for his legal representation to provide additional documents to Wednesday, November 8.

Additionally, it reiterated its November 2 order for Emefiele’s unconditional release or for him to be produced in court on Wednesday.
