It was gathered that the court typically conducts on-site assessments for land disputes to determine the root cause of conflicts. In this instance, Buba-Dalas conducted the survey to establish the rights of the parties involved.
An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted that upon being spotted, the team was attacked by villagers.
According to the source, “They went to a specific location in Degri, Balanga LGA to ascertain the true owner of the land. That was when people from the village assaulted them with weapons.”
The Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe State branch, verified the incident through its Publicity Secretary, Bashir Abdullahi.
“Good morning distinguished learned silks, seniors and colleagues. This is to notify the esteemed members of the Jewel Bar that there will be a visit to His Honour, Ayuba Buba-Dalas (UAC III JUDGE), and Usman Yahya Esq., over a sad incident that happened to them yesterday while on a visit to locus at Degri,” Abdullahi’s statement partly read.
The attack on Judge Ayuba Buba-Dalas although not related comes days after the supreme court judgement on the presidential election.
