Daniel Bwala, media aide to President Bola Tinubu, has refuted claims that he ever referred to the president as a drug lord during the 2023 presidential campaign, including his time working with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Bwala emphasized that he never used derogatory or damaging language against Tinubu. He noted that while some individuals made such allegations during the campaign, he did not share or support them.

According to Bwala, his focus at the time was on seeking clarity and addressing the matter appropriately. He explained that misconceptions arose because some interpreted his calls for clarification as agreement with the allegations, which he denied.

He stated: “I have never called him a derogatory name. I have never called him that. That is where they are missing it. There were other individuals who used that. If you ask people from the other side where I worked with, one thing I disagreed with throughout the campaign was the appellation that he is a drug lord. What I was saying was that the question around that needs to be cleared.”
