Heartbreaking: Kano Mother Of Quintuplets D!es After Giving Birth

Tragedy struck in Kano as Hafsatu Yusuf, a mother who had just delivered quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, passed away early Thursday. According to Ireporter Online, the woman died around 2 a.m., just hours after giving birth to three boys and two girls.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, confirmed that the cause of death was persistent postpartum bleeding. Despite all medical interventions, efforts to save her life were unsuccessful.

“She had been bleeding since after delivery, and all efforts by doctors to control the situation were unsuccessful,” K/Na’isa said. He further disclosed that Yusuf has since been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions at her residence in Hotoro.

Authorities are appealing to the public to provide support for the quintuplets, who now face life without their mother. “We are appealing to the public to support the babies with milk and other essential items,” K/Na’isa added.

The ministry confirmed that the newborns remain in stable condition under close medical supervision at the hospital. The incident occurred shortly after the Kano State Government had announced it would take responsibility for the medical care of the mother and her children following the delivery.

The husband of the deceased, Malam Salisu Nufi’u, expressed gratitude to the government for its timely intervention. The Kano State Government reiterated its commitment to enhancing maternal and child healthcare services and reducing mortality rates across the state.
