Bwari PDP Candidate Julius Adamu Explains Why He Stepped Down For APC Rival
According to Ireporter Online, Julius Adamu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Bwari Area Council, has disclosed the reasons behind his withdrawal from the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections. Adamu stepped aside in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa, following discussions with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Adamu stated that his decision was aimed at avoiding conflict and promoting unity, and he urged his supporters to back Musa in the polls. “I have been in deep consultation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and I have concluded that Joshua and I are like brothers. It would not be right for us to fight over one office. Therefore, I have decided to support Hon. Joshua, and I encourage all my supporters to do the same,” he said.
The FCT elections, scheduled for Saturday, will cover six area councils—Bwari, AMAC, Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada—where voters will select their local government leaders.
In a related development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims that the February 21 FCT Area Council election results will be transmitted in “real-time.” In a statement released Wednesday, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, Adedayo Oketola, clarified that the chairman never promised real-time transmission. He emphasized that using the term “real-time” misrepresents INEC’s established electoral procedures.
