Saliu Mustapha is a progressive who has gained many admirers among APC stakeholders and appears likely set to have a clean sweep of the chairmanship seat if all political permutations are anything to go by.

Saliu Mustapha was born on September 25, 1972, into the respectable family of Issa and Maryam Mustapha of Gambari Ward in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Here are seven things you need to know about him.

1: He is a core Buharist , he was a major member of the Buhari Presidential Campaigns in 2003 when the latter ran under the platform of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). He later teamed up with the current President to form the CPC and emerged as the Deputy National Chairman of the party under the chairmanship of Late Prince Tony Momoh from Edo State.

2 Politically, he is a force to reckon with in the political firmament of Kwara State. For years, he has nurtured and maintained his SMS political group, a one of its kind political movement that cuts across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

3 Saliu Mustapha is a great philanthropist and runs – the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, through the foundation he has been able to undertake wide charitable projects in his hometown and beyond, advancing humanitarian causes. He spends an average of 100 million yearly in sustaining this laudable initiative.

4 A great party loyalist. Herein lies one of Saliu Mustapha’s sterling characteristics which makes him head and shoulders above his competitors. He has shown his loyalty to party supremacy countless times that his commitment to the party is not in doubt. For instance, he was disenfranchised during the 2019 Gubernatorial elections in Kwara State and was wrongfully disqualified.

This never stopped him from still going ahead to be among the highest individual donors to the APC gubernatorial campaign. He was later apologized to formally with a written letter personally signed by the Former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole. His actions of not challenging the outcome of the primaries is a major reason why the APC is the ruling party in Kwara State today.

5 Ideologically driven. Saliu Mustapha is a core progressive who has shown in actions and deeds that he’s ideologically driven and has very a resourceful personality. His commitment to party building is a major key.
