According to ireporteronline, Shehu was taken into custody by unidentified personnel at his clinic in Unguwar Dosa around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. This information was also corroborated by a report from Daily Trust.

So far, no official statement has been issued by any security agency regarding the incident. However, Shehu’s son, Buhari Mahdi, informed the media that efforts to contact his father have been unsuccessful.

“We’re unsure if this was an arrest or an invitation. He was picked up by DSS operatives at his clinic in Kaduna around 11:00 a.m.,” Buhari said, declining to share additional details.

This isn’t the first time Mahdi Shehu has faced such circumstances. In December 2024, he was detained and later charged in court for allegedly sharing a misleading video on his social media platforms. The Kaduna State High Court eventually granted him bail on January 9, 2025, with conditions that included a ₦3 million bond and the involvement of two prominent clerics as guarantors.

Shortly after his release, Shehu publicly addressed his situation and expressed gratitude for the support he received during his 12-day detention. Through a series of tweets, he thanked his well-wishers, critics, and even those indifferent to his plight.

“To those who prayed and supported me, I felt your strength. To those who celebrated my predicament, thank you for reinforcing my worldview. And to the indifferent, your silence offered fertile ground for deeper reflection,” Shehu tweeted.

He also apologized for being unable to respond to over 4 million messages across his social media platforms.

This latest development adds another layer to the activist’s ongoing confrontations with the authorities.
