According to Ireporter Online, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Portugal’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, setting him on course for a historic sixth appearance at football’s biggest tournament.

The 41-year-old forward, who already holds the record for the most international caps and goals in men’s football, continues to extend his legacy of longevity at the highest level. His inclusion places him among a select group of players to have featured in five World Cups, a list that includes long-time rival Lionel Messi, who is also expected to feature in a sixth edition following Argentina’s triumph in Qatar.

Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, currently plays his club football with Al-Nassr and remains eligible for the tournament after avoiding suspension despite a previous red card in a World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland.

Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez confirmed a 27-man squad plus an additional symbolic inclusion, paying tribute to the late Diogo Jota, whom he described as a lasting inspiration to the team.

The squad also features key stars such as Bruno Fernandes, with Manchester United’s midfielder still in contention to break the Premier League assist record. Several players representing Paris Saint-Germain are also included, with some set to feature in the upcoming Champions League final.

Portugal will prepare for the tournament with friendly matches against Chile and Nigeria before opening their World Cup campaign against DR Congo in Houston on June 17. They will also face Uzbekistan, before concluding their Group K fixtures against Colombia in Miami.

The selected squad blends experience and youth across all departments, with Diogo Costa, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Joao Neves, and Rafael Leao among the standout names alongside Ronaldo as Portugal aim for global glory in 2026.
