The Cross River State Commissioner for Power, Dr Eka Williams, has reportedly died, throwing his family, friends and members of his native Akparabong community in Ikom Local Government Area into mourning.

According to Ireporter Online, family sources confirmed Williams’ death on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his death were still unclear at the time of filing this report, although sources said the commissioner reportedly collapsed in Abuja.

His death came as a shock to many who knew him, particularly because he was said to have remained active in recent days.

A close associate of the late commissioner disclosed that Williams was present during Governor Bassey Otu’s recent visit to Ikom.

The source further revealed that following the visit, Governor Otu reportedly invited Williams to his residence for an assessment meeting.
