Currency Comeback: Naira Strengthens Officially, Stays Firm On Parallel Market
Naira Records Marginal Gain at Official Market, Maintains Stability Across Other FX Segments
The Nigerian naira showed slight appreciation against the U.S. dollar on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the official foreign exchange window. ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the local currency gained ₦0.51, closing at ₦1,534.20 per dollar, compared to ₦1,534.71 per dollar recorded on Friday, July 25, 2025.
While the movement at the official window reflects a marginal improvement, the naira remained unchanged across other major FX segments.
ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the currency closed flat in the black market, maintaining a rate of ₦1,540 per dollar—the same as the previous trading session.
Similarly, the naira exhibited no fluctuations against other foreign currencies. It traded steadily at ₦2,115 per British Pound, ₦1,800 per Euro, and ₦1,200 per Canadian dollar, mirroring Friday’s exchange rates.
ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the consistent performance across these currency benchmarks suggests a moment of stability in Nigeria’s broader foreign exchange market.
