Ogun Assembly Postpones Mid-Year Budget Review Over Strike Disruption
The Ogun State House of Assembly has shifted its mid-year budget performance review to Monday, July 28, 2025, following recent disruptions caused by a suspended state-wide workers’ strike.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Clerk I of the House, Mrs. Funmi Adeyemi, and monitored by iReporter Online, the exercise, originally scheduled for this week, will now commence at 10:00 a.m. on the new date. The mid-year budget assessment is a statutory responsibility of the legislature aimed at ensuring fiscal discipline and accountability across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The exercise is expected to evaluate the level of compliance with the state’s 2025 appropriation law and assess the impact of government spending on project implementation.
The House emphasized that the postponement was necessary to accommodate recent developments and ensure the full participation of key government stakeholders. All heads of MDAs have been urged to adhere strictly to the new schedule and come prepared with relevant documentation.
Observers see the move as a pragmatic step to uphold legislative oversight despite recent labor-related setbacks. The appraisal is viewed as critical in tracking the state’s financial performance and service delivery targets for the year.
