Dangote Reveals Why He Abandoned Plans To Buy Arsenal

Speaking during an interview with Nicolai Tangen, Dangote said he was seriously considering buying Arsenal at a time when the club was valued at approximately $2 billion. However, he ultimately concluded that directing his resources toward his refinery project was the more strategic and rewarding decision.

According to the business magnate, he had to weigh the option of investing heavily in Arsenal against ensuring the successful completion of what has become one of Africa’s most significant industrial projects. He said he chose to remain a passionate supporter of the club while concentrating on expanding his business empire.

Dangote noted that his dedication to Arsenal has not diminished, revealing that he continues to watch the club’s matches and proudly wears the team’s jersey whenever they play.

He further observed that Arsenal’s market value has increased substantially in recent years, making the prospect of acquiring the club far less appealing than it was when he first considered the move.

The billionaire said that, in hindsight, focusing on his refinery project was the better decision, adding that he is content to support Arsenal as a devoted fan rather than as its owner.
