DIG Encourages Police Officers To Embrace Professionalism, Reject Unethical Behavior (Details)
The Supervising Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of South West Geopolitical Zone, DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, has called for professionalism and discarding of unethical conduct among the rank and file of the police.
DIG Alabi gave this call while addressing officers and men during an official visit to the Osun State Police Command on Thursday.
The police boss, while urging police personnel in the command to imbibe the spirit of teamwork.
Alibi said, “I also urged them to imbibe the spirit of teamwork. I want you DPOs to see your men as family, deal with them the way you’d deal with your relatives at home.
“Put the welfare of your men at heart at all times. Treat your officers the way you want your senior officers to treat you.
“Shun anything that can attract queries and get yourself on track professionally. Stop harassing and intimidating non criminals. Don’t turn civil matters to criminal matters.”
Alabi acknowledged that the South West Geopolitical zone had been generally peaceful but charged police personnel in the command to double their efforts in terms of intelligence gathering in order to stop migrating criminals from populating the state.
He also sued for interagency collaboration and synergy with other security agencies, as no one can work alone in order to achieve the goals of securing lives and properties.
“I charge officers to double their efforts in order to stop migrating criminals from populating the state.
“Don’t see your contemporaries in other security agencies as competitors. By establishing good rapports with colleagues from other agencies, it will make your job easier. It will boost your strength and confidence.
“There is a need for interagency collaboration and synergy with other security agencies, as no one can work alone in order to achieve the goals of securing lives and properties of residents in the state.
