The exchange rate between the United States dollar and the Nigerian naira at the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, recorded notable activity on April 10, 2026. According to Ireporter Online, sources within the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment in Lagos indicated that the dollar was traded at a selling rate of ₦1,409, while the buying rate stood at ₦1,393. The report highlights ongoing fluctuations within the informal forex market, where rates are largely driven by demand and supply dynamics.

Meanwhile, data from the official window showed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintained a lower range for the currency, with the dollar trading between a highest rate of ₦1,365 and a lowest rate of ₦1,351. The apex bank has consistently reiterated that it does not recognize the parallel market and has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange transactions to channel their requests through authorized financial institutions.
