According to Ireporter Online, popular gospel singer Eben has opened up about an incident in which a church reportedly withdrew his scheduled ministration after taking issue with his appearance on an album cover.

The award-winning singer disclosed this during a recent podcast interview, where he recounted how the church leadership cancelled his engagement after noticing that he wore shredded denim jeans in his album artwork. Eben expressed surprise over the decision, noting that all plans for the event had already been concluded before the controversy arose.

He explained that the jeans in question did not reveal any part of his body or portray indecency, but the church’s organising committee reportedly deemed the outfit inappropriate for a Christian minister. According to Eben, the organisers contacted him to convey their displeasure, stressing that his appearance did not align with their expectations of a gospel artiste.

Reflecting on the experience, Eben, who has spent over two decades in ministry, lamented what he described as an excessive focus on outward appearance rather than the substance of faith and message. He maintained that he has always chosen to live authentically and consistently, rather than project an image that differs from his true self.
