In his New Year message, Tinubu emphasized that his administration would intensify efforts in 2025 to boost local production and tackle inflation, which currently sits at a daunting 34.6%. “Our goal is to reduce inflation to 15% by year’s end, providing much-needed relief to all Nigerians,” he stated.
National Credit Guarantee Company on the Horizon
The president announced plans to launch a National Credit Guarantee Company by mid-2025, aimed at expanding credit access and empowering businesses. This initiative will involve key partnerships with the Bank of Industry, Nigerian Sovereign Investment Agency, and other government and private entities.
“This will build confidence in the financial sector and unlock opportunities for women, youth, and other underserved groups, driving economic re-industrialization and improving living standards,” Tinubu explained.
Economic Progress Amid Challenges
While acknowledging the hardships faced in 2024, Tinubu highlighted signs of economic recovery, including growing foreign reserves, trade surpluses, and declining fuel prices. He attributed these gains to his administration’s reforms, which have also spurred record growth in the stock market and increased foreign investments.
Fostering Unity Through a National Values Charter
The president pledged to introduce a National Values Charter in the first quarter of 2025. This initiative aims to promote patriotism and mutual trust among citizens, bridging divides along political, ethnic, and religious lines.
Empowering the Youth
Tinubu also promised a Youth Conference early in the year to ensure inclusivity and harness the energy of Nigeria’s younger generation for nation-building.
Vision for a $1 Trillion Economy
Looking ahead, Tinubu called for collaboration to achieve his administration’s ambitious goal of transforming Nigeria into a trillion-dollar economy. “Let us stay focused and united as we build a nation that works for everyone,” he urged.
With these initiatives, Tinubu has set an optimistic tone for 2025, envisioning a year of economic stability, inclusivity, and progress for all Nigerians.
