Ekiti State: Marshalls Apprehend-Suspects For Drug-Possession And Trafficking (Details)

The Ekiti State Agro Marshalls have made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities within the state. Two individuals, identified as Sheyi Alaba and Ayodeji Ajayi, have been apprehended on suspicion of possessing and trading illicit drugs.

According to Mr. Olamide Oni, the Commander of the Corps and a retired Commissioner of Police, Sheyi Alaba is believed to specialize in the trading of Indian hemp, while Ayodeji Ajayi is suspected of dealing in a variety of illicit substances, including Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin, and Colorado.

Ajayi’s arrest on 29th May at Adebabayo led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs, with a street value of N700,000. Upon interrogation, Ajayi disclosed that he had been entrusted by a woman known as Eya Iyin to distribute the drugs. He admitted to selling approximately N46,000 worth of the illicit substances before his arrest, claiming it was his first foray into the drug trade and that he was unfamiliar with its intricacies.

Meanwhile, Sheyi Alaba was apprehended along the bush part on Agric Olope, Ado-Ekiti. Alaba refuted allegations of involvement in drug trafficking, stating that he had merely gone to the bush part to smoke for the first time and had no prior experience with narcotics.

Commander Oni emphasized that the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. The arrests signify a proactive approach by the Ekiti State Agro Marshalls in tackling drug-related crimes and safeguarding the well-being of residents.
