Onuigbo Reveals Why Abia-State Lacks A Federal-Secretariat
A former House Representatives member for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Samuel Onuigbo, has disclosed why Abia State has no federal secretariat.
Honourable Samuel Onuigbo said previous administrations in the state failed to play their own part for the federal government to erect a federal secretariat in the state.
Chief Onuigbo, on Friday after visiting Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, at his residence in Umuehim Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South local government, said there was need for the state to have federal presence through federal secretariat in Umuahia.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said previous government before Otti failed to pay compensation to owners of the lands for the proposed project, “thus denying the state such project 33 years after its creation.”
The former House of Representatives member, who said he visited Otti to show support, said he facilitated the federal secretariat project, along with rehabilitation of Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Road, Apunmiri Ubakala Skills Acquisition Center and Achingala-Umunwawa road from Ubakala in Umuahia South local government.
The member representing the South East on the board of North East Development Commission said Labour Party-led administration has performed evidently well in one year of his administration.
Onuigbo called for support from all Abia State stakeholders to the government to do more in the development of the state.
“He deserves the support of the people in moving forward. The evidence is there, I don’t think anybody is playing to the gallery. He has done exceedingly well and he deserves our support.
“You know, I’m of the APC and he’s of the Labour Party. This is not a partisan issue, this is recognition of someone who has done well and who should be encouraged to do much more,” Leadership quoted Chief Onuigbo.
