Sanwo-Olu made this remark during a discussion with 30 participants from the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy in Ikeja.

“During the EndSARS protests, I faced one of the most difficult times of my leadership journey.

“We have faced many challenges as a government, but we must prioritize the needs of Lagosians above all, exhibiting both responsiveness and responsibility.

“No difficult situation lasts indefinitely. Work diligently to generate positive news and ensure it reaches the public,” Sanwo-Olu advised.

He encouraged the academy fellows to be purposeful in enhancing their leadership skills.

“Being chosen from a pool of 16,000 applicants signifies the value within you.

“Leadership requires intentionality, which is why we established this academy.

“You are all champions of effective leadership; challenge yourselves. The only limits you face are those of your own ambition.”

He acknowledged that the current generation might not be familiar with Alhaji Lateef Jakande, stating that Jakande represented the essence of true leadership.

“That’s why his legacy remains relevant today,” he added.

The governor emphasized the need for courage in difficult times, highlighting that a hallmark of good leadership is the capacity to endure and tolerate challenges.

“It’s vital for you to unite, fostering tolerance and meaningful friendships among yourselves.

“Be courageous and solution-focused; don’t dwell on the obstacles,” he urged.

Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, Executive Secretary of the academy, expressed gratitude to the governor for engaging with the fellows.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the academy aims to cultivate young, change-driven individuals who are eager to shape the future of Nigeria.
