Yoruba Youths Reject Sharia Law In Southwest’ See this
AKURE — The Yoruba Nation Youths declared their opposition yesterday to the introduction of Sharia law or the establishment of Sharia courts in the Southwest region…READ MORE…
In a statement issued by their leaders, Ayodele Ologunloluwa (Diaspora) and Oyegunle Omotoyole (Homebase), the group emphasized their commitment to safeguarding their homeland against any kind of destabilization, including the imposition of Sharia law.
This declaration comes in response to reports that the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria’s Oyo State Chapter plans to inaugurate a Sharia court in Oyo town on January 11, 2025, at the Muslim Community Islamic Centre, located on Oba Adeyemi High School Road, Mobolaje area, Agbogangan, Oyo.
The youth labeled the proposal “laughable” and pledged to organize resistance efforts should the plan move forward.
The statement asserted: “We will oppose any attempt to impose Sharia law or courts in Yorubaland. Our culture and traditions are unique, and any effort to introduce foreign laws will face strong backlash.
“We urge the Federal Government not to sow division in Yorubaland. Our aim is self-determination for the Yoruba people, and we will not let outside influences interfere with our struggle.
“It is better for a Yoruba individual to stand firm than bow down to a Hausa-Fulani.
“Sharia law clashes with our values, culture, and lifestyle; we will not permit any disruption to the peace of Yorubaland under the guise of religious imposition.
“We categorically reject any initiatives that threaten our beliefs, values, and identity. We are prepared to resist this agenda with all our strength.
