Eyes On The Ball: Saliu Mustapha Remains Focussed Amidst A Challenging Contest For APC’s Top Job
Nigeria has never witnessed a challenging and intriguing contest for the position of a party’s top chief since the advent of the Fourth Republic like the current tussle for the APC national chairmanship position.
The game is real and the players are formidable party members who have tested the political waters times without number. The list of contenders for the position of APC national chair is indeed intimidating with over 80 % of the contestant’s being former State Governors who served two terms with a chunk of them currently Senators and Federal Ministers.
Saying the battle is not for the lily-livered is an understatement.APC happens to be the ruling party with the majority of the states under its firm control, the party to a large extent plays a great role in nation-building.
Political parties have the capacity to help institute a nation and move towards progress, they are responsible for bringing social reform within a country. The political leaders of a country determine the future of a nation.
A frontline aspirant for the APC national chairmanship position, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has proven beyond reasonable doubt how political leaders should carry themselves with dignity before, during and after the electoral contests. Saliu Mustapha is a source of Mentorship.
The typical Nigerian politician pushes everything behind just for the sake of participating in an election. From character to social and corporate responsibility, temperament and even seeking sympathy in some cases.
If the move is not in line with the aspiration of the politician at the particular time then rule them out completely as not a single input is expected. The challenges of seeking elective positions in Nigerian is certainly tough, herculean and extremely strenuous.
Mallam Saliu Mustapha is a perfect description of a politician who is squarely focused and has his eyes on the balls. The Turaki of Ilorin has a rich history of philanthropic activities that transcends his political activism.
From the day Saliu Mustapha indicated an interest in leading the biggest party in Africa he has not failed in any of his responsibilities prior to his expression of interest. That man is Godsent and has been standing up for the people for a long time.
The Saliu Mustapha Foundation was established in 2003, as a special purpose vehicle through which its Chairman, Mallam Saliu Mustapha intends to play his own little part in the growth and development of Kwara State and Nigeria at large, it is surprising that Mallam has not stopped his philanthropic and social activities that have no correlation with his ambition on the altar of SAKE OF SAY I DEY CONTEST ELECTION.
Recall in August Malam Saliu Mustapha donated 200 Orthopedic beds and their full accessories to the Kwara State Government to help ameliorate the COVID-19 pandemic health challenges faced in the State.
With the rigours of touring across the states and meeting party stakeholders, Mallam has not stopped for a single second his appeal to the general masses irrespective of party affiliations. His temperament and accessibility have been stable even with the complexities involved in such a huge contest.
Today the Ilorin Emirate is hosting the world at the Ilorin palace with His Royal Highness, The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Sulu Ibrahim Gambari, CFR performing the royal turbaning of Mallam Saliu Mustapha as the fourth Turaki of Ilorin.
Political parties exist to influence public policy. They do so through slates of candidates for political office. They apply pressure to elected officials and government agencies to conform to favoured policy proposals.
It is worthy of commendation that Mallam Saliu Mustapha has continued to remain focussed with his eyes squarely on the ball. Indeed the APC may get it right this time around with Mallam Saliu Mustapha emerging as the next National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress.
