Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, clarified this stance to State House correspondents in Abuja, emphasizing the government’s commitment to refrain from ransom payments in such situations.
Idris commended the National Security Adviser (NSA) and service chiefs for their efforts in securing the children’s release. President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to intensify actions against kidnapping nationwide.
“As promised by Mr. President, they have been rescued. No ransom was paid,” the minister affirmed, adding that security agencies are under presidential directive to stamp out kidnapping and hold perpetrators accountable.
This development follows the March 7 abduction of students by bandits from schools in Kuriga community, Chikun LGA.
