Five Confirmed Dead In Lagos Building Collapse Tragedy
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported that the death toll from the recent building collapse at Arowojobe Estate, Maryland, Lagos, has increased to five. Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed this development in a statement to the Ireporteronline.
According to Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu, the five deceased victims, all adult males, have been recovered and handed over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit for further processing. The first three victims were initially taken to Gbagada General Hospital, while the other two were transported to the Trauma Centre at Gbagada after stabilization.
The collapse, which occurred at No. 13 Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate, was reported to LASEMA around 3:49 a.m., prompting an immediate response team activation at 3:58 a.m. The search and rescue operations are still ongoing at the scene.
