From Heartbreak To Stardom: Liquorose’s Journey To BBNaija Success

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has revealed how a positive COVID-19 test in 2020 nearly derailed her BBNaija journey.

In a recent interview with VJ Adams, Liquorose recounted that she was fully prepared and ready to be introduced at the show’s launch in 2020 but was prevented from entering after testing positive for the virus, along with fellow contestant Jaypaul. The experience left her disheartened and nearly caused her to abandon her dream of joining the reality series.

Despite the setback, Liquorose returned the following year to audition, although she admitted she almost skipped the opportunity due to the trauma of the previous experience. Encouraged by a friend, she went ahead with the audition, only to discover later that she had been selected for the show.

Her perseverance culminated in her participation in Big Brother Naija Season 5 in 2021, where she emerged as the runner-up, narrowly missing the grand prize to Whitemoney. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and makeup done, but I was not called. That really hurt me. The following year, I didn’t even want to audition, but my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. I later checked my spam and discovered I had been selected. It was crazy.”
