From Innovation To Responsibility: Lagos Hosts Landmark Social Media & AI Event

Lagos State recently hosted the sixth edition of the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH 6.0), a leading event focused on digital media and thought leadership. The three-day programme, which took place from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, 2025, explored the intersection of social media, artificial intelligence, and their transformative impact on society and professional practice.

Themed “Social Media & A.I Influence: Transforming Yourself, Services & the Society,” the event brought together policymakers, academics, creatives, legal professionals, influencers, and digital strategists from Nigeria and beyond. Organised by Bodex Hungbo, the sessions were held at the University of Lagos and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.

According to reports, the opening day focused on ethics, education, and youth empowerment in the AI era, featuring keynote addresses, interactive panels, and discussions on responsible digital communication and innovation. Speakers addressed topics such as ethical content creation, personal branding with AI, legal frameworks for digital expression, and the societal impact of social media.

A youth-focused panel emphasized empowering the next generation of digital innovators, encouraging young people to harness technology responsibly and creatively. Notable attendees included Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, actress Carolyna Hutchings, and influential digital creators Moji Delano and Pamilerin Adegoke. Award-winning media personality Denrele Edun hosted the event, adding energy and engagement to the proceedings.

Over the three days, BSMH 6.0 facilitated practical demonstrations and conversations on how individuals, businesses, and institutions can leverage technology while maintaining ethical standards. The event reaffirmed Lagos’ status as a hub for digital innovation and provided a blueprint for responsible and impactful engagement in Africa’s fast-evolving digital landscape.
