Amidst the anticipation and joy surrounding Governor Fubara’s legal triumph, tensions flared as some youths, believed to be acting on the instructions of the Council Chairman, wreaked havoc at the original venue, damaging canopies and chairs meant for the celebration.
Undeterred, Fubara’s supporters swiftly relocated the event to another venue, where the Council Chairman, Hope Ikiriko, addressed the allegations and clarified the situation. Despite the initial setback, the rally continued successfully, as reported by ChannelsTelevision.
Chairman Ikiriko, addressing the media, emphasized the importance of localizing the celebration and urged attendees to conduct themselves responsibly. He assured that measures had been taken to ensure peace and security during the program.
Despite the disruptive actions of hooligans, the event drew a remarkable attendance, with notable figures such as past and present lawmakers, commissioners, and the Governor’s representative present.
Sokari Goodboy, the leader of Governor Fubara’s supporters in Ahoada West, along with a loyal Assembly member, called on the presidency and the police high command to take note of the provocative actions during the rally.
Governor Fubara’s representative, Evans Bipi, and a former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, addressed the crowd, advising them not to be intimidated by rumors of potential suspensions from the PDP and other threats.
In a show of solidarity, supporters welcomed defectors from the opposition party into the People’s Democratic Party, underscoring their unwavering support for Governor Fubara.
Despite the unfortunate incident, celebrations to mark the governor’s Supreme Court victory have been ongoing across the state, featuring street processions and open-air thanksgiving services organized by supporters.
