Yahaya Bello Proudly Rates Eight Years In Office, Highlights Kogi’s Growth

During the Polytechnic’s combined convocation covering 2013/2014–2022–2023, the governor highlighted the repositioning of the State Polytechnic to meet 21st-century challenges as one of his achievements.
Governor Bello noted, “My achievements can be attested to where the State Polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now, and what we have repositioned for the future.”
The governor emphasized his administration’s prioritization of education, improving infrastructure and learning in tertiary institutions, and expanding educational institutions to make knowledge accessible within the state.
Expressing gratitude to the people for electing his successor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, Governor Bello assured that Ododo would build upon his administration’s achievements. He appreciated the Governing Council Chairman, staff, students, and Rector, Dr Salisu Usman Ogbo, for their cooperation.
Governor Bello praised the Rector for elevating the state Polytechnic’s reputation globally, and he commended TETFUND and other contributors to the institution’s repositioning.
The Rector, Dr Salisu Usman Ogbo, congratulated Usman Ododo, considering his victory a positive step for the state’s unity and development. He credited the institution’s restored reputation to his three-point agenda of Reform, Restore, and Repair, highlighting its contribution to producing graduates who become employers.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Yakubu Isa, emphasized the Polytechnic’s commitment to students’ academic and personal development, ensuring the provision of necessary tools and resources for success.
At the convocation, 249 individuals received Distinctions, and 11,080 achieved Upper, Lower Credits, and Passes. Fellowship awards were granted to notable contributors, including Alhaji Ozi Salami, Barrister Umoru Jimoh, Prof. Idris M. Bugaji, and Barr. Moses Azubuike Okafor.
