“With optimal efforts and efficient policy reforms, Nigeria’s GDP can achieve a 5.5% growth rate, and we are optimistic that this is achievable,” Omisakin stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has urged the government to ensure that economic growth aligns with the realities faced by Nigerians.

During a December 2024 plenary session, Jibrin emphasized the need for practical implementation of the GDP growth targets outlined in the 2024-2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).
