Ice Prince Reveals Horrors Of 2001 Jos Crisis: “Churches And Mosques Were Sharing Guns

Nigerian musician Panshak Zamani, widely known as Ice Prince, has recounted his experiences during the 2001 Jos Crisis, describing the conflict as extremely violent and chaotic. Speaking on Echoo Room with actor Teddy A, Ice Prince reflected on the events from his childhood, recalling the widespread involvement of religious institutions in the violence.

According to Ice Prince, both churches and mosques were reportedly distributing weapons, effectively turning the city into a battleground. He vividly described the streets as littered with the aftermath of brutal clashes, including dismembered bodies.

The musician further noted that despite the severity of the crisis, media coverage at the time was minimal. He emphasized that the crisis was a full-scale war that left a profound impact on those who lived through it.

“Those who remember the Jos Crisis will attest that this is not an exaggeration,” Ice Prince said. “Churches were sharing guns, mosques were sharing guns; it was a serious situation—a full-blown war. You would see heads and legs on the ground, yet it was so underreported.”
