“I’m A Golden Minister Loved By God” — Wike Declares At Abuja Project Flag-Off

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as a “golden minister” specially favoured by God, noting that his leadership has coincided with landmark anniversaries in two significant jurisdictions of Nigeria.

According to Ireporter Online, Wike made this remark on Thursday, October 9, during the flag-off of the Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) project in Abuja, which links Arterial N16 (Yemi Osinbajo Way) to N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), including Road ILS 5 within Katampe District.

Reflecting on his political journey, Wike said his tenure as Rivers State Governor aligned with the state’s 50th anniversary, and now, as FCT Minister, he will oversee the capital’s 50th anniversary scheduled for February 2026. He described the timing as divine and symbolic of God’s grace upon his life.

“Some of us have been very lucky. We are golden governors and now golden ministers. It’s not everybody that will be that lucky,” Wike remarked. “I was governor when Rivers State clocked 50 years, and now I am minister when the FCT will celebrate its 50th anniversary. That means God really loves us.”

The minister humorously added that occupying the same office as him does not necessarily mean one enjoys the same divine favour. “You may sit on my seat, but that does not mean you are specially loved the way I am loved by God,” he joked, drawing laughter from the audience.

Wike called on residents, engineers, and contractors to intensify efforts in delivering key projects that will make Abuja’s golden jubilee memorable. He emphasized that his administration remains focused on completing major infrastructure and housing developments across the FCT before the milestone celebration.

The newly flagged-off Collector Road CN2 project is part of several strategic developments intended to improve traffic flow and connectivity within Katampe District as Abuja approaches its 50th anniversary.
