Tinubu Meets St Kitts & Nevis PM, Set To Appoint Special Envoys
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reached an agreement with the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Michael Drew, to appoint special envoys aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
According to Ireporter Online, the resolution was made on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Drew to the President at the State House in Abuja. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Caribbean leader explained that the envoys would play a crucial role in advancing diplomatic engagement and ensuring that existing agreements yield concrete outcomes for both countries.
Drew noted that the initiative would also extend to broader collaboration involving Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the Caribbean Community, adding that the arrangement is designed to deliver measurable benefits across the regions.
The Prime Minister commended Tinubu’s leadership and his commitment to deepening ties between Africa and the Caribbean, describing Nigeria as a key player on both continental and global stages. He also expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received, highlighting his repeated visits to the country as a testament to the growing relationship.
Emphasising historical and cultural connections, Drew stated that many citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis trace their ancestry to Nigeria, particularly the Calabar region, describing his visit as a symbolic return home.
He further revealed that discussions between both leaders covered key sectors including education, agriculture, food security, cultural exchange, and broader development partnerships between Africa and the Caribbean.
Drew also pointed to existing collaborations in health and education, noting that Nigerian-trained professionals have contributed significantly to the development of Saint Kitts and Nevis. He added that the ongoing partnership has already produced tangible results and is now being expanded to achieve even greater impact.
