Iyaloja-General Folashade Tinubu-Ojo Meets Minister Abubakar Momoh to Strengthen Women Empowerment Initiatives
Chief Mujidat Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, recently paid a visit to the Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, FNSE, at his office. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance women’s empowerment across the nation.
During the discussion, Chief Tinubu-Ojo emphasized the pivotal role women play in Nigeria’s economic and social spheres. She highlighted the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and traders, particularly in accessing financial resources, education, and market opportunities. She advocated for policies that would provide better support systems, training programs, and financial inclusivity for women.
Minister Momoh acknowledged these concerns and reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women. He outlined current and upcoming initiatives aimed at creating an enabling environment for women to thrive economically. These initiatives include skill acquisition programs, grants for female entrepreneurs, and the development of infrastructures that support women’s businesses.
Both parties agreed on the necessity of continuous collaboration between the government and market associations to ensure that policies are effectively implemented and reach the grassroots level. They also discussed the importance of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of these empowerment programs.
This meeting signifies a proactive step towards addressing the systemic barriers hindering women’s full participation in Nigeria’s economic development. The collaboration between the Iyaloja-General and the Ministry of Regional Development aims to foster a more inclusive economy where women can contribute significantly and benefit equitably.
