JAMB Releases 2026/2027 Admission Cut-Off Marks

The decision was reached on Monday during JAMB’s annual policy meeting held in Abuja, where vice-chancellors and key stakeholders in the education sector voted on the admission benchmarks for tertiary institutions.

In addition to the university cut-off mark, the meeting approved 100 as the minimum score for admission into polytechnics, while Colleges of Nursing will also admit candidates from a cut-off mark of 150.

The policy meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, alongside heads of tertiary institutions and other education stakeholders.

At the same meeting, the Federal Government announced a significant change to the admission process for selected programmes. Candidates seeking admission into Federal Colleges of Education will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The exemption also extends to applicants pursuing courses in education, agriculture, technology, and other related non-engineering programmes.

According to the Minister of Education, the policy is designed to broaden access to skill-based and critical academic programmes that are essential to national development.

He, however, emphasized that candidates benefiting from the exemption must still meet the minimum O’Level requirements prescribed for their chosen courses.

In a related announcement, JAMB confirmed that applicants for education programmes and agriculture-related courses will also be admitted without UTME, marking a major shift in Nigeria’s higher education admission policy.
