Tinubu Names New Appointee In Fresh Federal Appointment

According to a statement issued on Monday by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the appointment underscores the administration’s determination to strengthen internal security coordination, enhance intelligence-driven operations, and improve collaboration among security agencies in tackling emerging threats across the country.

The Presidency described Fadewa as a highly decorated retired military officer with more than 30 years of experience in military and intelligence service. His expertise spans national security strategy, intelligence fusion, counter-terrorism operations, and international security diplomacy.

Officials noted that his career reflects a unique blend of operational excellence, strategic foresight, and institutional leadership in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national interests.

Fadewa previously served as Principal General Staff Officer to the National Security Adviser between 2015 and 2021, where he played a pivotal role in developing Nigeria’s modern intelligence coordination architecture.

During his tenure, he led the establishment of the Intelligence Fusion Centre at the Office of the National Security Adviser, a multi-agency platform that brought together the Defence Intelligence Agency, National Intelligence Agency, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, and the Armed Forces to improve national threat assessments and strategic response coordination.

Following his retirement from active service, Fadewa became a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, where he continued contributing to policy discussions on policing, civil-security relations, and national security reforms.

His academic work includes a monograph titled Policing and National Security in Nigeria, which outlines practical approaches to strengthening cooperation between civil institutions and security agencies.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Fadewa’s appointment would further bolster efforts to build a safer and more secure Nigeria through improved homeland security coordination, intelligence integration, and proactive risk management.

The President also urged the retired general to deploy his extensive experience, professionalism, and strategic insight in advancing national security goals and supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
