JUST IN: UNIBEN Final-Year Student K!lled In Sh**ting, Others Injured

A final-year student of the University of Benin has been confirmed dead after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in front of the institution’s main gate at the Ugbowo campus.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred while the victim was driving a GLK Mercedes-Benz when he was ambushed and attacked at close range by masked assailants.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers opened fire on the vehicle, leaving the student fatally wounded on the spot. Two other occupants of the car sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack and were immediately rushed to the University of Benin Health Centre for medical attention.

A witness who spoke on the incident described the attack as swift and brutal, noting that the victim had no chance of survival due to the close-range shooting.

Security operatives are yet to release an official statement as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are expected to commence.
