Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has described Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, as one of the strongest ministers who served in his administration.

According to Ireporter Online, Jonathan made the remarks in Bauchi during the inauguration of 18 township road projects completed by the state government.

The former president said Mohammed demonstrated a strong commitment to public service during his time as a minister, adding that he was not surprised by the development recorded in Bauchi under the governor’s leadership.

Jonathan attributed Mohammed’s achievements to his longstanding passion for public service, determination to deliver democratic dividends and commitment to the development of the state.

He further noted that the governor’s performance reflected the confidence residents had placed in him through their mandate.

Speaking earlier, Mohammed recalled his experience working under Jonathan, saying the period provided him with valuable lessons in prudent management of public resources, project execution and effective governance.

The Bauchi governor said Jonathan taught him the importance of having a clear development agenda, maximising limited resources, conducting regular inspections of projects and ensuring that projects were completed within stipulated timelines.

Mohammed described the former president as a mentor and father figure whose guidance had played a significant role in shaping his approach to leadership and governance.

The governor said the newly inaugurated township roads were part of his administration’s efforts to ensure responsible use of public resources while delivering infrastructure capable of improving the quality of life of residents.

He stressed that good road networks were essential to economic growth, noting that they help connect communities, promote commerce and improve access to healthcare and educational opportunities.

Mohammed said his administration was determined to leave lasting infrastructure and development legacies across Bauchi State.

Jonathan, in his remarks, said Bauchi had always remained important to him and commended the state government for its investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development.
