Joy Grips Edo Farmers As LP Akpata’s Plan To Enhance Food Security And Production Surfaces

The Ex-NBA President, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, has a detailed agricultural plan for Edo State that goes beyond mere vision. His strategy is designed to turn the state into a leading agricultural hub. Recognizing Edo’s vast arable lands and its agricultural potential, Akpata sees a future where the state not only achieves food security but also makes a substantial contribution to the nation’s GDP through an efficiently managed agricultural sector.
The first crucial aspect of his plan tackles the current difficulties farmers face in accessing their farmlands. Akpata acknowledges the alarming food shortages caused by criminal elements invading forests, which prevents farmers from cultivating their lands.
To address this, Akpata’s incoming administration plans to implement community policing and enhance inter-agency collaboration. This approach aims to clear Edo’s forests of criminal elements, ensuring that farmers can work without fear. This strategy not only strengthens food security but also creates a safer environment for the citizens.
Akpata’s vision surpasses just addressing immediate issues. He understands the untapped potential of Edo’s abundant natural resources and aims to diversify the state’s contributions to the national GDP. By moving away from an exclusive focus on oil production towards a more varied economy, Edo can establish itself as a significant player in the country.
The Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate’s plan to enhance food security and boost production has struck a chord with farmers, prompting them to throw their support behind his candidacy.
