Women from the Ipo community in Rivers State caused a major disruption on Tuesday morning as they barricaded the entrance of Port Harcourt airport, leading to significant inconvenience for travelers. Gathering as early as 7:30 AM, the women stationed themselves at the airport roundabout gate, brandishing placards, singing, wailing, and even cooking meals right at the blockade.
The protest, marked by banners reading ‘We Demand Our Citizens Rights’ and ‘Ipo Women Peaceful Protest’, has also resulted in considerable traffic congestion near the airport vicinity.
The unexpected action has caught many off guard, highlighting the community’s grievances and causing a stir among both travelers and local authorities alike.
